When alternative media captures a significant amount of audience, they want to go head-to-head against the mainstream media. At this point, it is not about the news anymore, it is about winning.
Even for Alternative media, sadly it comes down to "us" vs "them", it is a game of power now.
Plagiarism would seem to be more relevant to university officials than designers though. FWIW, I'm finished with traditional media but was aware of Oxman's extensive transgressions. She doesn't run a top university though or use her "scholarship" to browbeat people like me.
